Amp on protect mode

My AQ2200 went on protect mode and stays on that.Anyway to fix it?I've tried car on and of,remove power and remote wire,remove rca's,and nothing.I had it going to a Clarion preamp,then preamp started smoking,could it be that?

have you checked power fuses also check and make sure your remote is sending a power signal to the amp the preamp smoking could have cause a remote wire short if the two are on the same line then that could be the issue check all fuses under dash as well

If it's going in to protect, a remote is not the problem.

Remove RCA's + Speaker wires and try to give power to it and see if it still goes in protect. If it does at that point, it's time for repair unfortunately.

Remove speaker leads... and then turn it on.

if it jumps to protect, get your check book out.
