TheMonolith2001 Posted September 7, 2014 Report Posted September 7, 2014 I would imagine it is just a relay in there that would eventually wear out, but say I am stopping the vehicle and starting it again every 15 minutes or so. and I do this for a few hours a few days a week. Is this too much? I must admit I have never seen an amp just stop turning on unless it blew up due to misuse but that doesn't mean it can't happen I guess. Should I probably be more worried about my battery? Voltage always reads OK so far.

I imagine the relays inside the amp are no different. You are never going to get anywhere near 50,000 cycles. Turning it on and off 10 times a day, every day, for 10 years only gets you a little over half way to that. TheMonolith2001 Posted September 8, 2014 Author Report Posted September 8, 2014 Ah that is a good idea, I never thought to look up how many cycles the relays are rated for. They are both old school PPI amps so while they have been switched on and off many times by now they probably used high quality parts that are still nowhere near the max they are rated for and will probably last even longer than that. I COULD put a switch on it but I was asking because I do want it to come back on every time I start the vehicle again if it was safe which it seems it is.
