Upgrade current battery or get a 2nd battery/HO alternator?

What up guys, need some advice here, I have 2 Kicker CompR 15s and a 2400W RMS Hifonics BRX2400.1D amp on the way (CEA compliant). I believe the stock alternator in my 2015 Subaru Outback is 130 amps. What kind of electrical upgrades do you guys think will be necessary?

I believe the 2400W RMS of that amp is produced at 14.4 volts, should I upgrade my stock battery to a 14v or 16v? Would that be safe for the electrical system? Do I need 2 batteries or can I get away with just upgrading my current battery?

I have heard that HO alternators can cause problems for some late model cars with lots of electrical devices and internal computer systems. Is there any truth to that?

Thanks for the help my ninjas. :drink40:

Ho alts on cars that are pcm controlled can have issues but not really common (reputable companies for alts should be perfectly fine). The biggest issue is that pcm controlled alts like to charge 13.5-13.8v.

For that amp imo, 1-2runs ofc 0guage solid grounds to match. Upgraded battery to agm and a 200+ amp alt. If course big 3 in 0guage. From there if voltage drop is excessive more batts maybe a voltage boost module.

singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.

I don't know, from what I've seen on here people claim those amps to be power hungry.

Lol, ok the way I see it

130 amp stock battery roughly 60-70% is taking by the car. Leaving 50-60amps roughly.

That amp (from what I've seen on here) being power hungry and needing 14v to produce rated will use between 100-150 amps on music average.

Big 3 and an upgraded stock Batt, no real gain in voltage and only storage was added.

Big 3, upgraded alt and Batt. Givespower supply and storage.

And since the other two didn't say it, no, don't upgrade to a 14 or 16 volt battery unless you plan on adding a step down module or frying and replacing electrical for your car. Upgraded AGM 12v battery is what you need/want.

Thanks for the input everybody. One thing I forgot to mention is I'm not planning on playing very much music when the engine is off. I also don't plan on playing it at full blast most of the time, just a few songs here and there. I would guess I'll usually have it at about 1/2 or 3/4 volume. I also installed a switch in the remote wire to the amp so I can turn it on or off if I'm sitting there with the engine off or if I just need to kill the subs. I'm not sure if these factors will change my system requirements much, but yell at me if you think it will. Thanks again.

What did you just say? Am I reading this right?

1. They're power hungry

2. They're DIRTY power

3. But all in all they're good amps

4. I like them, good brand

Did I read that right?
