jrath
1. If anyone gets voltage drop measured at the amp it is recommended to upgrade the electrical system (more batteries and/or HOA). 2. If anyone gets voltage drop measured on the dash it is recommended to upgrade to a HOA. If you are getting neither than don't change anything. My favorite quote is "if it ain't broke don't fix it." MaxVolume
hifonics amps, of course they aren't doing rated tho I'd think they'd pull enough to make voltage dip more than that
Ahmed Johnson
Are you bumping hard for more than an hour? Before I swapped alts I didn't notice much drop until an hour or so into playing.
Guest
hifonics amps, of course they aren't doing rated tho I'd think they'd pull enough to make voltage dip more than that if its not tuned properly to put out enough power, it wont drop voltage. like i said the amps are probably only outputting a few hundred watts. thats like turning on your high beams lol
everybodyknowme
After reading above I had to agree that either I'm not bumping hard enough or it needs better tuning or both. So I re-tuned the amp today and was able to open the gain more without clipping and now I get voltage drop. not sure why my gain was that low but it still sounded loud enough to me but now I can say it woke up. Calling Mechman tomorrow.
