question about hifonics amp made in the US

Recommended Posts

Alright got a few questions for you guys

so been really cool with a local car audio shop owner

and we were talking today, I mentioned that i was looking for a 4 channel

amp, I'm really rooting for the soundqubed, but will end up with the 2 channel ab one

so then he tells me he has this hifonics amp, he pulls it out the closet, packaged and what not

Its a pink box, has all manuals and the sticker, looks old, but you could tell it was never used. I don't have knowledge on hifonics

older line, but what did catch my eye was the fact that it has a logo that states, made in the USA, or something like

that

he told me i could have it for 180$, which seems fair to me considering conditions

was wondering to see what you guys thought

its a 4 channel but not to sure on the model nor series and heavy compared to others

thanks

I am not sure about your model, but I love my old Series 7 amps, and I am pretty sure that they were made in the US by ZED Audio. Not 100% sure though. You know that you can get the Audique NOS 2 channel amps on ebay for $160. Awesome deal on an awesome amp.

for a few 20s more you could get the newer hifonics zeus 4 channel amp!

The new stuff is garbage compared to the old School stuff.

That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

I would try and talk the price down some especially since you're asking how much to pay that tells me you're uncomfortable with the price.

Not bad, better then the newer ones im sure, couldnt see myself spending almost a dollor a watt for something that old IMO.

Not sure how ture the ratings are but the old school stuff was good. It's rated 4x90 at 2 ohm 12 volts and it is 1 ohm stable but has no rating listed for 1 ohm. $180 really might not be a bad deal but I'd try and talk it down as low as the guy will guy anyways.

Op if you get it you should send it to someone with an amp dyno to get tested if you're willing to.
