Zero_Tolerance_
I figured out why my amp wouldn't turn on, but now even though it's on it doesn't power my sub at all. What should I test to figure out what the problem is?
reedal
Use an oscope and test speaker outs to see if your amp is putting a signal out. Try a different sub. Try a different amp. Zero_Tolerance_
Well I have none of those things so that doesn't exactly work.
OrionStang
Without an oscope you're kinda fucked. Go get a cheap $10 model just to test voltage. Or take it to a shop and have them test it. Labor will probably cost more than the tool. SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread

Zero_Tolerance_
What is the right way to test the speaker outputs, then?
P4killer_
Just use a volt meter.. get a cheap one from harbor freight for free with coupon or like 3 bux if not. Set it ac volts at its lowest setting which I think on those is 200. Red wire to positive speaker terminal. Black wire to neg speaker terminal. Play music or tones. You should get a reading. A tone is better because itll be a constant value while the tone is playing. If not, it could be the signal. Make sure the rcas are plugged in. Your gain could be way low if you have a weak signal. So for the purpose of testing only, if your gain happens to be set real low right now turn it up to like half to test the voltage. Also make sure the lpf is set all the way up. Hpf all the way down. Ssf off or all the way up. For testing if the amp is putting out only. Reset everything to normal afterwatds. Double check all connections. Setup: 2010 Hyundai Elantra Factory Unit via 4 chan NVX LOC Excessive Amperage "H/O" Alt Xs D3400/ Xs XP3000 Big 3. 2 Runs of +, 2 Runs of - DD M3b and 2 12" AQ HDC4s
OrionStang
Disconnect speakers at the amp, set DMM to A/C voltage, play a test tone and see if the dmm reads anything. Positive probe to positive output, negative probe to negative output, obviously. SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
