First System Build Questions

My little cousin just got his first car and he wants to put some gear in it. He wants to stay around $250-$300 range. I have enough wire to wire his car for him and he doesn't know it but I'm also going to build his box. I was looking at the HDS2 subs but I don't know if that will be enough to give him what he wants. All of it is going in a 99 mountaineer. Amy suggestions on a sub and amp for around his budget? TIA

Alpine MRV-M500 and the HDS212 in a 2.5cu ft box. My wife has that in her CR-V and it does pretty well.

I have two HDS312's running at 600W a piece in a 97 explorer and they sound great. I'd say see if he'd be willing to get the HDS315 if he wants a one sub setup, and the q1-1200 if you go with SoundQubed. If not then the HDS215 and the q1-750. Getting the full output of that amp into that sub should be plenty fine.

id def do a single 15. for $20 bucks more it's worth it.

plus i would try to invest a Lil more into the amp. get good power at 2ohm. that way if he wants to add later he has room on the amp. and running 1k or less at 2ohm won't kill his Alt super fast. plus no extra bats... ect.

HDC3 15 in only 3cuft? Huh??

According to soundqubed a HDC3 15 should be in a 4.5-5 cubic foot box.

And also those subs are 300 by themselves so no money left for an amp

Does anyone have any recommended amps that will do 600-1000w rms at 2 ohms for a decent price? My cousin plans on getting the HDS2 15 (I tried to talk him into the hds3 but he says it's too much and he's broke, he is in HS so it's understandable) so I'm just looking for an amp to power it. TIA guys
