So today I went to my local car audio shop and they told me the ppi components speakers I was going to buy are junk and they also told me to toss my xs power 4700 up front and put a yellow top on because it'll last longer ? It's this true

That was my point. They are in business to sell and all though it shady practice down talk any other product it is a sale's practice. Here is how I look at things lately. All industries are like Onions. You need to peel through a lot of layers but, and as you peel it is going to stink and make you cry at times. Even car audio shops have a minimum amount of resources if they are not part of the online community and rely on their distributors and manufactures for their knowledge and they are only going to sell up their products and not others.

Yes the main things they sale is Memphis kicker and JL. He tried to get my into Memphis instead of the ppi. And he said some off brand battery that I never heard of. He said the same guy that made the kinetic battiers made them

If so, they are decent but, if you got XS don't worry about changing out the battery he shouldn't either he is just trying to up sell you.

It is unfortunate they do not know about the new PPI speakers, the price point for MSRP and Dealer Costs are fantastic as well as the sound quality out of them. Memphis probably got the best sounding speakers out of the three brands you mentioned they carry.

MOST shops I've dealt with are shady and not trustworthy. XS Power > Optima. I have no experience with those components though. I can tell you this, a good way to tell if a shop salesperson is lying to you is that their mouth is moving.

I wouldn't call them Shady they are out to make money. So they are going to sell up every single product line in their store to make a profit.

Optima, Memphis, Kicker and JL are all good manufactures and I wouldn't talk down on any of their equipment as I have used them all. As for the sales man discrediting XS power and PPI without knowing the products is Shady. I have dealt with sales people like that in the past both as a customer and co-workers. It always comes back to bite them in the ass eventually. However, their lack of knowledge and shadiness doesn't mean they don't take care of their actual customers who have trusted and spent money with them.

I run PPI BI comps and they sound great...
