DophieMan2013
With my 2014 explorer I have a 200amp alt and a stock battery. Im adding a BC3500D but am unable to upgrade the alternator or add a second. I was thinking of using a xs D3100 and 2 Farad 1000w caps? The explorer is only driven about 3-4 times a week. Any thoughts?

rockFord_Expedition
You'll probably do ok as long as you don't get on it too hard for too long and you aren't expecting the amp to do rated power. SnowDrifter
270a alt and upgraded front battery should easily power your amp without the need for extra batteries or capacitors. This would be the ideal scenario at least... Why can't you upgrade your alt? What does your voltage look like now and what equipment so you have? ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444

From Matthew at Machman " the stock alternator is PCM controlled, not sure how much (if any) the alternator output could be increased without causing possible computer or battery light problems. We have not yet done a 2014 model, so I cant say for sure. Regards, Matthew" Also don't want to void the ford warranty.
