Grounding to gas tank safe?

Working on a 2007 Grand Prix this morning. The only factory spot to ground in the trunk is on top (I think) the gas tank. There are 3 bolts and this weird cookie cutter looking piece in the center of them. No Idea what It is. All I know if on the other side of the wall (outside the car), the gas cap sits.

Edit: Found the gas tank. I think we're good. Wtf is that 3 bolted object in the trunk on the drivers side of the car then?

Those 3 bolts are for the struts.

struts are great grounding spots

avoid the gas tank as much as possible i accidentally drilled an hole in my old car gas tank to screw down my amp man i had so much engine problem

My next guess to anchor down the ground would have been right on top the gas tank. :ehh:

Luckily "2007 Grand Prix Trunk Parts" on google gave me what I needed. Never would've guessed struts. Not a mechanic at all.

If there's a lot of rust around the strut, I'd consider a different spot. The rust may be all the way through the metal and you wouldn't be able to see it.

Just a thought.

I try and keep gas and mass amounts of current as far away from each other as possible. Just me.

"Clipping" is the biggest forum boner now. It's like witchcraft... it automatically explains just about everything people don't understand.
