r.sok Posted December 29, 2014 Report Posted December 29, 2014 I just can't quite figure this out, It's driving me nuts (although passengers don't notice the problem). I've Searched yahoo/youtube, Tried everyones remedy but none of them work for me ---System--- -Pioneer x930bt dvd navi H/U--2 Volt preouts -Jl Audio a6450 6 channel amp---75w 4 ohms--Gains are set 1/4 turn -(Front speakers) Hybrid Audio Clarus 6.5 components---120rms 4 ohms -(Rear speakers) Infinity Kappa coaxials -Everything highpassed at 63hz Via H/U Hpf---Amp set at Full Range -Removed the stock amp (Located in the trunk & extended/used the oem wires for the amp) -8 gauge amp kit ---Symptoms --- -I get a slight hiss when i turn up the music -Doesnt matter if the car is on or off -Hiss gets louder as volume goes up ---Things I've tried--- -Ground loop isolator -Regroudning the H/U -Grounding the Rca wires -Messing with the gains ---Overview--- -It has always done this with any front/rear speakers I have ran -If I leave the EQ (flat) The hiss is not there, however It doesnt sound good to me with everything flat -Using the (loud) Feature makes the hiss louder--I don't use the feature though -If I leave the stereo at 50% Volume, Pause the track & mess with the eq (7 band) & raise each one almost all the way they each introduce a different frequency of hiss -I have no alernator whine nor any other problems except the hiss -Aside from the hiss the sysstem sounds excellent I was thinking of getting one of these to boost the pre amp voltage (for a cleaner signal) & use the eq off of that. I don't want to if I don't need to though http://www.amazon.com/Clarion-EQS746-Graphic-Equalizer-Crossover/dp/B000EZV3T8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1419826875&sr=8-1&keywords=clarion+car+eq
jk13 Posted December 29, 2014 Report Posted December 29, 2014 -Removed the stock amp (Located in the trunk & extended/used the oem wires for the amp) What? OEM wires? You mean from amp to speakers or signal from HU to amp? Adding another piece of equipment to bandaid an existing issue rarely works. Try a different signal source like an iPod directly into the RCAs and see if it helps. Or a different set of RCAs outside the car as a temp setup. Static drops are my bag.
MrSkippyJ Posted December 29, 2014 Report Posted December 29, 2014 if the hiss increases with volume, more RCA voltage probably won't help. F150: Stock 2019 Harley Road Glide: Amp: TM400Xad - 4 channel 400 watt Processor: DSR1 Fairing (Front) 6.5s -MMats PA601cx Lid (Rear) 6x9s - TMS69
jk13 Posted December 29, 2014 Report Posted December 29, 2014 -If I leave the EQ (flat) The hiss is not there, however It doesnt sound good to me with everything flat Also, if this is true I'd use subtractive EQ'ing rather than boosting. Wait, I do that anyway. But that HU shouldn't be doing that. Look up "pico fuse" and see if the symptoms are similar to yours. Static drops are my bag.

Front the amp to the speakers I'm using the OEM wires, Power-Ground-Remote is from a amp kit -If I leave the EQ (flat) The hiss is not there, however It doesnt sound good to me with everything flat Also, if this is true I'd use subtractive EQ'ing rather than boosting. I've searched that up also, Everyone that blows the pico fuse has all sorts of alternator wine. The quick incorrect remedy to this was to ground the Rca wires to the H/U fram & or Ground. I've tried both with no luck
MrSkippyJ Posted December 29, 2014 Report Posted December 29, 2014 You might try lowering bands of the EQ rather than raising some. Also avoid the use of the "loud" function, this could be part of the cause. Miguels Posted December 29, 2014 Report Posted December 29, 2014 get rid of the EQ.. get a better deck and call it a day my logshttp://www.stevemead...-my-new-set-up/my blow through loghttp://www.stevemead...future-updates/ 96 ss http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/164094-96-impala-ss-build/
MrSkippyJ Posted December 29, 2014 Report Posted December 29, 2014 I thought it was the EQ in the H/U. F150: Stock 2019 Harley Road Glide: Amp: TM400Xad - 4 channel 400 watt Processor: DSR1 Fairing (Front) 6.5s -MMats PA601cx Lid (Rear) 6x9s - TMS69

Also avoid the use of the "loud" function, this could be part of the cause. I don't use the loud feature, It was a test to see if it changed the way it sounded, Lowering eq? I like the Vocals & instruments as Accurate & clear sounding as possible, wouldnt this reduce all of that? Or are you saying Bring them all the way to the bottom & copy the same curve as if I was starting at a flat setting? I just ordered New Rockford Rca for same day delivery tomorrow, From my understanding low quality Rca's are more likely to pick up engine noise etc...I don't pick up any engine noise with my current rca's. Would this be a waste of money?
