bentandbroken
Okay I'm trying to avoid a Vs thread, but mods feel free to lock this if I'm breaking the rule. I'm doing an install in a truck replacing two jl w3 10s. Sundown subs are going into the truck so no brand wars please. Basically the facts: RF-1200watt rms amp ~3 cubic ft box tuned around 35hz. The guy asked me and I didn't know how to answer so he wanted to know in those Conditions will two downfiring SA-12s or 4 forwardfiring E-8s be louder on music to the ear. I only ask because I haven't heard the e8. So I have no reference for comparison. Life's a trip. . . Don't fall.
juan777
2 12s is slightly more cone area, box may be too small for the SAs though? What does Sundown recommend for space? audiofanaticz
Id definitively go with the sa-12s if there is enough space to do down firing 12s and have eough room beneath the woofer for the cone and surround to move, and they take abuse like no other. ToNasty
i have an nbs silverado ext cab. there is not enough room under the seats for sa12s, better off using sd2. even if you lift the seat its a bitch ***Super Sellers List***http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/25829-super-sellers-buyers
audiofanaticz
^^^^ theres your answer I guess. I vote remove the rear seat and 4 sa-12s... The SD are nice woofers, I havent got to play with the new E series with the double stacked magnets, but I wasnt all to fond of the single stack e series for some reason. ToNasty
still not enough room, the moutning depth of the sas plus room for the poll vent them to get proper diplacment, its as pain. and sas need to be ported ***Super Sellers List***http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/25829-super-sellers-buyers

ToNasty
if you can get 4 cubes "NET" and proper port area than yes but i highly dount that will fit, 10s yes, 12s eh i doubt it ***Super Sellers List***http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/25829-super-sellers-buyers
audiofanaticz
If your not in a hurry and are after sundown woofers id strongly wait for the SD-3 model to be released, not sure what sizes they are all coming in but 10s for sure, and most likely 12s.. They look beefy and with the inverted surround its going to give you potentially more box space to work with since the box wont have to be raised up as high to give the woofer extra room for excursion and the surround.
