TRON
Got some big changes coming to the truck soon. Selling some of the bigger stuff to help pay for more school so I'm downsizing for the time being. I'm going with a midgate enclosure, one that fits in the rear window storage mount. It's limited on space, but you can get 4-5 out of it. I'm stuck on what kind of subwoofer to stick in there. Original plan was for two Alpine SWR 8s, which have a mount depth of 4.5 inches. My best measurements, and going by what some of the pre-made enclosures say I have a maximum mount depth of 4''. Only other option then is to got shallow mount. A single SWR-T12 has a mount depth of 3.5'' but its about $600 and the two 8's are only $360 (local prices). So should I try build the enclosure for two 8s or dig out the cash for a shallow mount 12? ImaNoob
Do you have that box already ? Fox Acoustics makes a box that replaces the midgate and gives you 10 inch mounting depth for 2 12s...Its like 450 bux though. defeats the purpose of paying for school but just putting it out there. 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 Xs3400 1500BDCP FI BL 12 3sq @ 32hz Rockford t675 T400.2 Stinger Deadner Build Log Here
gckless
So, estimate 3.5 cubes net with a mount depth of 4"? http://stereointegrity.com/product/bm-mk-iv-12-subwoofer/ MkV is coming out shortly too (http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/general-car-audio-discussion/171328-bm-mkv-sneak-peek.html). They're sealed drivers, but you could put as many in there as you could fit on the baffle. Don't know how wide the box is, but with some tetris-ing you might be able to fit 4. I would think 3 at least. Edit: Nevermind. Just seen you want to save money. "Clipping" is the biggest forum boner now. It's like witchcraft... it automatically explains just about everything people don't understand. I'm going to build the enclosure. I have seen the full on replacement midgate enclosures but the problem with those is you loose box space where the enclosure stick out in the back, and I haul my motocross bike around constantly in the summer. TRON
I was looking into some of the JL shallows and the 10TW3s are cheaper than the Alpine SWR-T12s and are even thinner. I might take a look into those. ChevyBoy95
http://ct-sounds.com/thermo-10-subwoofer/ 3.27" mounting depth with a 139.99 MSRP... Haven't used or seen them in action so no clue on performance though. REMT15
just order a seat bracket to move the rear seat up. I bought a 3 inch bracket. You can fit a sub with a 7 inch mounting depth that way. enough room for 2 nice 10s ported then
