have it crossed at 60 hz sound like free air at 40 hz lol

i thought it need to brake in a littile but it still sounds like shit

i tired moving it around and checking for box flex

nothing helps

Obviously something is not right somewhere, its just difficult to try to figure it out w/o being there to investigate personally. It could be that the sub parameters are way, way off from what American Bass publishes, or it could be that the box came out tuned much lower than it should be. Or there could be something else going on somewhere in your audio setup and it causing the issue, who knows?

If you have the ability to measure the impedance curve of the box that would really tell us whats going on with the box itself.

You can try putting some blocks in the ported side to take up some space, that will raise the tuning and see if that makes a difference. If it does you could then trim down the port a bit from the inside to permanently raise the tuning. I find it hard to believe that the tuning could be off that much though.

i tried shoving things into the port to change the tune but it didnt really do anything

how would i test the impedance curve of the box? a dmm to see if the ohms jump around ?

Putting stuff in the port will only lower your tuning, which is probably not the direction we want to go. You would need to take up space inside the ported area to raise the tuning.

There is a way to measure the impedance with a DMM, but you need a dummy resister to do it and its kind of a pain to do. If you had something like a Dayton DATS that is the best way, but that's not a very common tool.

Another way to check the tuning is to pull the cover off the sealed side. Play different tones through the sub and watch the cone. As you increase or decrease the frequency of the tone there will be a point where the cone moves the least and as you play a higher or lower tone it will start to move more, the tone where it moves the least is the tuning frequency. Its not the more accurate way to measure it, but it will give us a rough idea.
