Where to fire the port on a "display"??

Recommended Posts

reason i'm bothering you guys its because one of our big costumers has a huge store and we have a "display" (dunno the name very well on your language) with powerbass equipment, nothing crazy, few 6x9s , 6.5s , etc etc, im redoing the whole thing cause the subs sounded like crap and im looking for ideas, BTW, i didnt build that thing lol.

What would you do? subs and port facing same direction?? i cant do port side because the display doesnt have a loading wall close, but i could always do sub forward and port back if it souns good and use the back wall of the store, honestly speaking, ive never built anything for other thing that isnt a car lol, we are gonna be using a 600 watts amplifier wired at 1 ohm and 2 xl 12s , nothing crazy!

was thinking maybe 1.75 cf per sub and about 40 SQ of port tuned to 43 hz, but i dont have a clue, whatever input you guys can give me will be very helpful :)

Most of the displays I see run the subs free-air (more technically it would be infinite baffle/sealed... ish. lol), or in a larger enclosure so you dont have to run the power so hard to get output. They tend to be port forward if ported, though port down or backwards would be fine as long as you've got some air space for the wave to exit under/behind.

Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through.

Quality is all in how you take pictures ;) I have plenty of projects that look WAY better on camera then in person :D

crazy to fit so many in so little. Reminds me of some of the porns I've seen?

You could also seal the speaker section but have the rest as the sub box with a port at the top facing the ceiling, maybe even make it a t-line

thanks for the input guys, i agree, i would love to use 2 10s or a 4th order maybe, but this is panama , people dont like to complicate things too much, so, thats why it has to be a ported box and a couple of cheap subs wich are the equipment we sell the most :(
