I have a 1000w Sony 2-channel amp pushing a 15" Kicker Solo Baric L7 the load onb the amp is 2-ohms... the amp starts to emit smoke after extending periods when the music ois turned up. is this a danger to the woofer? the amp is bolted to the rear of the ported box that the sub is in... any help appreciated...

just to be perfectly clear- your solobaric has dual 4ohm coils??

if its dual 2 then its 1ohm net to the amp and thats why its burning.

if your 100% sure and looked at the woofer and know its dual 4 then sometime you just have to check your grounds and conclude its a crappy amp.

(grounds grounds grounds check it over and over and over)

sony amps overheat ALOT, and isnt putting your amp on the box really bad because of the box vibrations?

Okay sorry for the bad info... its a 15" Kicker Solo Baric L7 the woofer has Dual 4-Ohm Voice Coils i have it wired to 2-Ohms the amp is 2-Ohm stable and is it a bad idea to bolt an amp to a box? well the woofer dont smell burnt and now its running backwards in a sealed box as in woofer facing inwards :) anyways and its bolted directly to the frame of my vehicle as in a 1990 Honda Accord... is it just the amp probably??

in smaller applications, the box doesnt vibrate a shit-ton to hurt, but vibrations are always bad. how are your gains and such set? they might be too high and might be pushing the amp too hard. that's why it only happens at high volumes. which if that's the case...it's probably sending a bad signal to your speaker, which can eventually blow the speaker.

and i'm not sure which amp he has...or 100% this is true...but i heard sony amps are CEA 2006 compliant now. given...that just means they'll push what they're rated at, now perform well in other categories. i just thought i'd throw that out there ;)
