Still very dirty. I have not finished the other larger box yet but the old box should do for now.

So how did you connect the terminals to the wire?

I used a hammer crimper. I am too broke to buy anything else ATM.

Mount the fuse box somewhere, vibrations will make sure the wire will come loose.

Too broke to buy a hydraulic crimper, but not broke enough to buy 3 pairs of speakers (of which atleast 1 pair is too much, in my opinion you could've used the money to buy 1 better component set (not saying these aren't good).)

You could've only bought 2 pairs of speakers and be left with more than enough money to buy a fancy hydraulic crimper. (And a bad ground can cause a fire, which is a lot more expensive then a crimper.)

Bolt ever connection down, sand down the spots for grounding, keep the ground as short as possible.

The crimper from the link above should be good enough.

Read up on how to mount speakers properly, it's not just dropping in a new pair(that can sometimes even cause a drop in performance).

Cut the wire end to the correct length so nothing sticks out and you don't have to use electrical tape, since any use of electrical tape is a weak link.

Electrical tape shouldn't be used at all, heatshrink is a lot better at everything electrical tape does.

Don't underestimate what vibrations can do to connections.

A pull test doesn't show a lot, it can be solid in the first day, but after a year of vibrations it might just fall out on its own.

I'm sorry to go hard on you, but when people are like "I can't afford the proper tools for a install" and just bought over 500$ of equipment to install .

Thinking is the root of all problems...

You ALWAYS get what you pay for.

^^what he said.

You're getting there. Also its worth it to jump on WcCaraudio and grab the book or two on wiring. Its like 20$ and will help you figure this stuff out.

Worry less about equipment you're at stage .5 of 50. You got a ways to go. Part of this process is going to be asking the right questions which it looks like you're slowly doing so thats good.

Also I would recommend spending $150-200 on a amp and spend the extra 100-150 on better speakers. You will be happier in the end. You already have a sub and sub amp so your priorities:

1. UnFUCK Electrical (in progress apparently)

2. Research wiring/fusing/ohms law series and parallel/spatial loading or speaker placement/how to install speakers in your car/sound deadening

3. Research more...(LOOK AT BUILD LOGS on SMD!)

4. As a question about said research

5. Talk to bassheads locally and at competitions if possible about said research

6. Sell Alpine Coax drivers

7. Buy decent front stage or a decent component set

8. Buy a 4 channel amp that is reasonably priced <$300

9. Buy electrical wiring book to make sure shits right before install

10. Mount all amps and clean up wiring/install speakers and lightly sound deaden doors

11. Go HAM.

If I were you, I would just put everything in too the best of my ability and then ask what I need to make my set-up more successful. One thing I can tell you, is you can go to any forum you want with what you showed us and you will get the same reaction. My advice is to hit a swisher everytime you come here so some of these comments won't bother you and relax, let the knowledge come to you.

I bought a 10 ton Hydraulic crimper on Amazon. Came to 31$ all together. I'll bet you spent atleast $20 on the hammer crimp

Thanks alaskanzx5 I might just do that
I can recone a sub myself. About a year ago I took 2 12" power acoustic mofos and made one sub. I took the magnet and the motor off of one and j b welded it to the other motor and magnet. I had to wind my own voice coil so it would work. After I was done hooked up to 2 boss 5000w amps. And shattered my back and all my side windows

came to this thread to recommend soundqubed and ct sounds. OP goes with soundstream.

oh lawd.

No one here is bashing you dude. They really could if they wanted. There trying to help you. And just a heads up. You came to one of Best Car Audio sites on the internet dude. And posted some Uhmm pictures of yours grounds and other things. Plus trim back the yours wire that go into your amp, are tape around the bare wire . We all started somewhere ourselves.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I was just entirely unaware that the crimper was so much better/inexpensive. I am to blame for this, I know. I am intent on doing this right and that's why I have come to get help :D But I will continue with my theme of adding more cone area. I do not mind having 6/8/10 speakers for mids and highs. The alpines are an interim step as my friends vehicle uses both 5.25 and 6x9 and I intend to move them to his car when i get a proper set of speakers. I appreciate the feedback that you have all taken to ensure that I don't fuck this entirely up. Thank you. I will post updates as they come, just need to find my battery charger for my drill :(

How would i best mount this fuse holder? double sided tape or just screw it to something?

I also have some heat shrink in the mail. It will be here by the end of the week. The electrical tape was temporary.

Posted

don't you double sided tape.

Bolt it to something and use a dab of blue loctite if you have it. OR if you are really in a bind you can use a sheet metal screws. I would use a nut/bolt and some washers. Cheap and effective. Ace hardware has them for a decent price, fuck lowes and home depot for hardware.

check out sonicelectronix, droppinhz, crescendo, Soundqubed for a component set.

Quick update guys, I have been waiting for payday to do anything else to my system. I have a drill bit set tap and die set (to drill out and thread the holes to mount the fuse holders) in the mail from amazon. I will post updates as they come. I have been working on other parts of the van that are more labor/less money. Just put a Thrush glasspack on it! I have another surprise coming in the mail, but it will be a while before that comes in. Thanks for all the support yall have offered me. I'll do my best to take pictures along the way.
