tboorn Posted March 16, 2015 Report Share Posted March 16, 2015 So was workin on the 24runner this weekend and went to my local audio shop that always hooks it up with my best friend Gorski, mind you i just needed some SMD led strips but the second we walk in we saw box's stacked to the roof. Now i already have a Parallel 6th order designed and ready i just dont have the funding for the wood/deadener/alt right now, which is fine im not guy who needs instant gratification, ill stare at my Neo and M3b all day in my closet and be perfectly content knowing its there for when i can finally build it (I love the build aspect more than anything). But Gorski on the other hand needs gratification NOW, and was tired of seeing my subs just sitting.... so 15min later i walk out with a new "top of the line" pro box hehe he justifies it somehow, i see it as almost the amount of money the birch i needed would have cost haha. Oh well got some bump back so cant complain. Here's a few shots of what i ended up throwing in for the time being, everything is just thrown in there its not supposed to look pretty yet. Plenty testing to come, only improvements from here on out. Lovely handling Yeeeee!!! still work perfect getting them wired up (only at 1ohm for now since no electrical) And the amp 1 batt to help a little In the whip... almost ready Just about done, little view of my 1st attempt at upholstery (was all 4, only back doors now) Another shot with my 2nd attempt at doors, i like it a little more, ill prob do the rear the same soon. tboorn Posted March 17, 2015 Author Report Share Posted March 17, 2015 took some box measurements to see what this prefab is tuned at and what airspace im working with. Looks like 2.2cuft per sub after displacements and tuned right around 40hz. Airspace is pretty optimal since theses n2s are recommended 1.75-2.5ft. I think i may extend the port some see if i can drop the tuning a little to try and make it more daily oriented for my liking. It doesnt play to well below 32-34hz and the roll of is substantial instantly below 38. i also really need to be some foam/deadening, its a damn thunder storm inside the car right now, i think if i can get a little foam and work done im gonna drive to San Marcus for a 1x event this weekend and see what she'll burp/sb1 at .25 nominal, also might swap for the n3s to burp since they have a higher fs and would like the box more i think. should see 1 maybe 2db gain from that i hope, lots of tweaking to come. Goal is to get close to 50 burp in the prefab for shits and gigs. until my real box build begins at least. tboorn Posted March 17, 2015 Author Report Share Posted March 17, 2015 took the wheels off and got some Loctite PL to secure the spacers i got (trying to help the rub issue). Well it looked like the wheel wells had NEVER been cleaned... Amazing what just a wire brush and some elbow grease will do Then finally hit them all with some black and a few layers of clear, spacers on too, only 1" didnt want to go too stanced out, now just to keep it clean haha Definitely looks better with the wheels on now IMO, but its probably not too noticeable to the naked eye. Itll look good all lit up i think though. Would love to see more Neo action though, lol thats what im saying!! haha i thought maybe itd do like a 43 with no testing, but almost a 46 out of a prefab, nothing to complain about for sure. Personally if i can even get near a 50 after deadening and what not from a burp ill be pretty ecstatic, then itll be time to build a new box. Should have some more pictures and maybe some videos after the weekend, gonna make a trip to San Marcos for a show so hopefully i can get some decent footage. Thanks for the compliments!
