RossGo
And so it begins...Deaden the outer fender skins for sure. It is the most important spot in my opinion. If I were to do it again, I would probably foam inside those panels. I have 4 layers between box and outside and it still swells substantially. That being said, my deadener has prevented fender ripping flex that "Skarred" Will Yes I have a lot of stereo weight. So i think that is what im going to do, but first im going to wait for my deadener to come in so i can least have a layer or two down before foam for some strength too. tboorn
Taylor's package finally got delivered from SPL Dean....... the excitement didnt last long sadly...... excitement building..... so close yet so far. well that sucked, been waiting for like 3 weeks for this recone, apparently he was always really short with Taylor, never really asked for specifications as to what kind of recone and what parts being used. Taylor had to just keep sending him messages saying what he was looking for and he would just reply with short little 2 word answers, and the boom, he received a 15 and not an 18. super awesome. Just make sure to block off where the fuel door cable sits before foam or you could potentially never be able to fuel up again haha Yes I have a lot of stereo weight. cgrez33
Might go with that deadener, that price is nice lol. Edit: How was it installing it? Did you do a knock test of any sort? tboorn
Might go with that deadener, that price is nice lol. Edit: How was it installing it? Did you do a knock test of any sort? it installs pretty well. the adhesive is good quality and i personally like to take my time and make it have form and function, so i used a heat gun and roller which made it apply really well. 1 layer isnt enough though of this, at least for me, or anyone who is over 140+ range haha. But once i was able to apply a second layer, and in some spots 3 or 4 layers, its working pretty well. For the price id recommend it. Theres definelty better but if you can take the time and use it properly it does the job. tboorn
So here we go, quick little update. A buddy of mine had an old wall he had removed from his previous car, it was semi-removable so he had the shell stilll in tact just not together in his garage. He wasnt using it anymore so he told me 20 bucks and i could have it. Walked away with 5 sides of a wall, all already double baffled birch, glued and screwed. I was pretty pumped up since i figured id be able to trim it down into a nice box for 2 12s and not have the hassle of making double baffles. After a little measuring and design, i had a rough idea. I actually got pretty lucky since the wall was the exact width of my rear section, so i only had to cut each board once to make a nice shell. It was also already beveled so i tried to keep those in tact for more strength. 2 of the 4 main seems i was able to use the bevel. Bevel 1 I ended up spending more money at Harbor Freight on clamps then i did on the actual box haha. Awesome clamps though, ill definitely be getting a lot of use from them.
