MECHMAN
Got some pretty pimpy parts rolling in for this update- New 17x10 ponys for the back, and 17x8's for the front, should change the whole appearance of the car... 1-888-MECHMAN www.Mechman.com [email protected]
MECHMAN
Also got the 3 way CDT components for the front stage, and 6.5" HD mid drivers for rear fill. A custom 3/4" birch baffle is being built by Extreme Car audio in Knoxville TN, that will allow the tweets and 6.5's to go in the door properly, and the 3" drivers will go in the stock tweeter position in the dash. The cool part about the CDT 3 way crossovers is that they have adjustable gain for the tweets and mids, so we will be able to bring the 3" drivers down a little if they are too hot in that dash position. The rear 6.5's will just be EG'd through the rear channels of the amp, letting the top end frequency roll of naturally. It's not a competition setup by any means, but we should have enough adjust-ability to make it sound pretty clean for a daily driver. 1-888-MECHMAN www.Mechman.com [email protected]
OrionStang
Nice upgrade. Curious if you've used piping for a port like that before? Wondering if there is any resonating sound, or any buzzing/humming from the end of it, especially how its split. MECHMAN
Nice upgrade. Curious if you've used piping for a port like that before? Wondering if there is any resonating sound, or any buzzing/humming from the end of it, especially how its split. We are layering on strips of Stinger deadener around the outside of the metal port to deaden it. Never used metal pipe for a port before, so we will see what happens... It should be pretty non-resonant after putting a bunch of thick ass deadener on it though... IT is also thoroughly pressed into it's wooden baffles and thoroughly siliconed to them as well. Oh, and I almost forgot- I cut off the split end of the port. It is completely solid all the way through, worked out perfectly to 19" effective length. (24" to start with) 1-888-MECHMAN www.Mechman.com [email protected]

MECHMAN
The car currently has drag shocks and springs on it, but it will likely never see a track. While we have it apart we are swapping in some basic Billsteins and street rate coils to make it ride and handle a little better on the street. 1-888-MECHMAN www.Mechman.com [email protected]

MECHMAN
Origionally, these cars have a 5.25" door speaker, a 3" mid/tweet in the dash, and 5x7's in the rear. A custom birch panel will create enough depth and mounting area to put the CDT component tweet and 6.5 in the door, and the 3" mid in the dash location. A 6.5" CDT mid-bass driver will be adapted into the rear factory speaker locations. The cool part about these CDT crossovers, is you have a 3 db adjustment either way for the tweet and the 3" driver. We were a little concerned about the 3" speakers being to loud do to their more direct placement, but we should be able to tune that out with the adjustable crossovers. Imaging won't be perfect, but should be good enough for my expectations. 1-888-MECHMAN www.Mechman.com [email protected]
