Chris Dennis Posted April 8, 2015 Report Posted April 8, 2015 I am in the process of installing my system which as follow. I have a BC3500 which is running two SA zv2 18's wired in parallel down to 0.5 ohm. Up front I have a Singer 270 amp 6 phase alternator and that is powering an Optima Red top. I have two runs of 2/0 welding cable running from the front to the back. I was told I should get two group 31 batteries in addition to what I already have. I am looking at the Duracell's from Sam's club because they are in my budget. My question is, can I run the duracell marine battery. It does say its AGM http://www.samsclub.com/sams/duracell-marine-battery-group-size-29hm/prod3590216.ip?navAction= Or do I need this one which says it is an AGM but more expensive? http://www.samsclub.com/sams/duracell-agm-deep-cycle-marine-and-rv-battery-group-size-31dtmagm/prod3590232.ip?navAction= Or is there another one I should look at? I don't want to spend anymore than $200 per battery though because I am broke.
magillaru Posted April 8, 2015 Report Posted April 8, 2015 I'm pretty sure the duracells are rebranded deka's which will be just fine (not positive on that though) You can get an actual deka from Remybatt. Other rebranded deka's: diehard, oreillys super start....I think there's a few more but not sure about availability Singer Alternators Team Asshole #anothershittysingerbuild
SnowDrifter Posted April 8, 2015 Report Posted April 8, 2015 Check the resting voltage of your optima. If its 12.6 or lower I'd replace it as well ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
Chris Dennis Posted April 8, 2015 Author Report Posted April 8, 2015 can I run that marine battery it isn't agm, not sure if it has to be or not
Chris Dennis Posted April 8, 2015 Author Report Posted April 8, 2015 Check the resting voltage of your optima. If its 12.6 or lower I'd replace it as well how long should I let the battery sit before I check it. Its currently on my truck and I use it everyday
SnowDrifter Posted April 8, 2015 Report Posted April 8, 2015 Ideally you would remove(or electrically disconnect) it from the vehicle, charge it, then let it sit for a few hours ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
ChevyBoy95 Posted April 8, 2015 Report Posted April 8, 2015 diehard platinum group 31's are just fine. I know a few competitors who used them very successfully. magillaru Posted April 8, 2015 Report Posted April 8, 2015 I have a diehard platinum under the hood and if I hadn't gotten such a good deal on my rear bank, I wouldn't hesitate to run more. Btw, OP, fix the spelling in the subject heading.....it's bothering me lol Singer Alternators Team Asshole #anothershittysingerbuild
