cichlidfort Posted April 8, 2008 Author Report Posted April 8, 2008 its the pillow stuffing material you can pick up at wal mart and roughly 1lb of polyfil per 1cuft works nicely -Drew Oh yeah I have seen that stuff in boxes but I never knew what it was for. So, exactly what does it do to help and how do you make it stick to the box without it being shot threw the ports? lol 2008 Chevy Impala (undercover cop style) Setup in the makings
Noobtastic14 Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 small amounts of chicken wire can stop it from flying out the port, and it makes the woofer "think" its in a bigger box -Drew I am a United States Military Arts and Crafts Professional. banginAltima Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 small amounts of chicken wire can stop it from flying out the port, and it makes the woofer "think" its in a bigger box -Drew That stuff was meant for sealed boxes, never heard of anyone using it in a ported box. Kinda defeats what ports are suppose to do.... move air freely. If you build it, db's will come... NSPL World Record Holder Trunk 0-1800 watts---147.9 with 1722 clamped watts @ 40Hz(9-20-09). Polecat Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 yep, you can use it for ported boxes as well. It will give you a smoother response. Behind every great man....is an underwear tag!
GHOPPOMAN Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 That stuff was meant for sealed boxes, never heard of anyone using it in a ported box. Kinda defeats what ports are suppose to do.... move air freely. thats why kicker uses it it all their enclosures! i believe they use it for the flater responce like polecat said but it will also act like a larger enclosure.

wL<3bass Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 Just going on a little bit of experience from my 15L7 I had and a few boxes I built for it, and on other peoples experiences... 6 cubic feet is not enough for two 15" L7s IMO... personally I consider that just a bit more than what is about right for just one... If at all possible, I would go with the 8 cubic feet Derrick824 suggested at a minimum. Maybe try an isobaric config? yep, you can use it for ported boxes as well. It will give you a smoother response. My brother used it in his box that was 2.93cuft after displacemtn tuned @ 40hz it does smoothed out the response also made it less "boomy" for lack of a better word.
