rockFord_Expedition
# things to consider when chosing fuse size: Just don't fuse any higher than what the run of wire is capable of carrying. 250A for a 90A alt is a bit high. Yes ground runs should be short, but so should any run of wire. You want them as short and girthy as possible within reason. It comes down to current carrying capabilities and voltage loss. 3ft. is an acceptable length. If your ground location is rusting, find a new one. Use a dielectric grease to prevent corrosion. gdaigle
Since its a 90 amp alt, I would use a 90 amp fuse or as close as you can get to 90. 250 is too big for a 90 amp alt. U definitely don't want to ground to a rusty surface. You want a clean bare metal surface to ground to. If you are using 1/0 then I'd do a 250 amp. ***Super Sellers List***http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/25829-super-sellers-buyers
Broke_Audio_Addict
What he is saying is there is no reason to fuse higher than the current you can actually supply and he is correct. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals. hdorre
lets say i have a alt,.. that does 100 amp But, i put a 2/0 wire on it.. cuz.. MORE IS BEST, and COOL right? would you fuse it to 450 amp ? ... then your wire IS the fuse............. this happens when running "duals" and many other times....... fusing to "wire load" is NOT always best...... not with what "we" do...
