Black Beauty Project Build - 06 Ford F-250 Super Duty **1/27/18 - New pics starting on page 41**

Recommended Posts

Hi kids! Been gone for a minute! Not that I'm back, but I've been trying to work on the truck a little here and there while dealing with life and my house remodel.

I replaced my head unit with a new kenwood that my wife got me for Father's Day.

The last couple of weeks I've been working on my cabin stage, installing components, amp rack, door treatments etc. I had pictures of the doors but I switched phones and apparently I didn't have the setting on to push pics to the cloud on Verizon. So, I lost the pics of door treatments and comps.

I do have pics of the amp rack. I have to upload those tonight and I'll post them up.

I've changed a little bit. Shocking right!? I finally switched to apple. I got a MacBook Pro and loved it so I ended up going to an iPhone and switched from the Galaxy Note Pro to the iPad Pro. So little switch because of the different size, mostly configuration, but same thing going on.

I got my accordion boot today. So I'm trying to get some help with a 4th order design for the xl15's and I'll be ready to work on those.

I'll post some pics tonight.

Good shit man. Cant wait to see what you have in store!

A few pics of the sealed enclosure. I had more but like I said they were on my other phone. Oh well.

So I made this to just have some sort of low end in the truck. Somehow I managed to make my xl10 stop working. So until I get that fixed, should be dropping it off next week, I decided I'd just use my ampere audio 3.010. It's meh. I never got the new cone for it because I picked up the D.C. Xl10. So it has slapping issues if it's pushed at all hard. Hard isn't really even needed. It's aggravating to say the least. But here it is.

I had already built it as you can see. Glue and finish nails. I bought a jasper jig a while back, which is what I used to do the sun hole cutout.

Had to clean up the edges a little bit which I used a flush trim bit for.

Since it's going to be by legs in the back seat I put a little round over on it.

Then I covered it with some high quality Home Depot special outdoor carpet.

Then threw the sub in.

Let's see, what else?

Oh here's the new iPad Pro. I can spit sideways like originally planned or vertically. I'm not sure if there's any issues with it being vertical, other than sideways looks better. Vertical would allow me to maintain the vents in their stock location however. We'll see what happens and how it works out. I'm scraping the old dash and starting over.

Here's the old one for comparison.

But also recall that changed too so I could add in the cts monitor.

I may still do this. But I want to start new with the middle of the unit for the new iPad.

So I think that's it for now.

Couple of other changes. I'm not going to use the Ampere processor now. I'm going to use a pair of McLaren DSP's. I have some cool location ideas for those. More fab work. As far as batteries go I'll have 4 xp3000's that will go under the truck.

The only other thing I'm unsure of right now is the Ampere Dream Components. I need to play more with them and the crossovers on the amps to see if I can get them to shine more. But right now they're better than stock, but not really great. So I need to work on those.

Everything else is pretty much staying the same. I may be adding a third 150.4 for another idea on an outside zone. But that's later for now.

yes I did, but then between all the work done on the truck, and being in the middle of a whole house remodel, it's messed up again. Oh well, that's life.

Tell me about it man. Every time I get organized I start another project (or 3) lol

So I contacted Hunter (raptorman) and he's got a couple of designs in the works for me.

As I've said before I'm in the middle of my whole house remodel, so time for the truck work is limited. However, that being said, my goal to get the enclosure done and in is by Christmas/New Years. That's going to be dependent on a couple of things. First of course, money. All of ours is being sunk into the house. Second is time because of the same reason, and third and most important, time to take a weekend and go visit Skyhigh. Because if I build the enclosure and take it with me, cut the truck and bring it home that way, then it's easier for my wife not to notice. LOL

There's also a fair amount of fabwork to do, weld a pair of boxes fora battery rack that will go under the truck itself, make a rack for the 2 3800's to sit on, and then frame up and stiffen up the back wall for when it's cut. There's a rather large long support bar that goes along the back window, it's the full width of the back wall, and about 6-7" wide and comes out about 2". That's valuable space for my plans.

Lots to address, lots to do, and I need to set some goals when I get the designs back. But forward progress is progress.
