rummy Posted May 19, 2015 Report Posted May 19, 2015 Sup guys. I have a punch 400-2 pushing JBL GTO608c component speakers. I've been having them a couple years and they play fine but I believe I don't have the amp set up correctly. I would like a little more midbass so I recently put some Dynamat in my doors and sealed them up as much as possible for a slight improvement. Now I'm thinking I just don't have the correct frequencies going to the comps. I don't wanna smoke my tweeters so I'm asking before doing. The comps can handle 50Hz to 21kHz and have their own crossovers. The 12db crossover in the amp has high/low/all pass functions and adjustable from 50Hz-500Hz. Should I set the amp to: High pass and 50Hz then run them through the comp crossovers? All pass and 50Hz then run them through the comp crossovers? Some other combination I don't understand? I have a DD-1 and will reset the gains once everything above is correct. Thanks!

Broke_Audio_Addict Posted May 20, 2015 Report Posted May 20, 2015 If you're running the passive crossovers anything you do on the amp is pointless as stated above set it to all pass and you're good. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

The 6.5" comps can handle 50hz so I would like those frequencies to reach the mid's and cover what the sub doesn't. Not damaging my tweeters is my main concern. Concensus seems to be all pass since I'm using the passive crossovers.
