Finding new grounds

Recommended Posts

Last night I noticed some alternator wine coming from my speakers so today I checked my grounds with a DMM. I was not happy with the results. Today I ripped out my rear seats and took the sub out. I checked the sub ground as well and wasn't happy with that either. This week and weekend I am redoing all of my grounds. The mid/high amp ground read 4.6 ohms and the sub ground read 3 ohms. I am also redoing the grounds in the front bc I'm not happy with that location and want to ground to the frame.

Question: if I cannot find a decent enough ground can I do a neg run from the front battery to the back and use that as a common ground?

Work so far.

A negative run from the battery is exactly what you should do.

That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

Alright. It won't matter that it will be 15' long? I'll see if I can find a piece of frame in the back and ground the run to that then ground the amps to that frame.

I would just buy a small rear battery or a distribution block to run the wire to.

Use the thickest wire you can at least as thick as your positive run and no it won't matter.

I have two grounds off my front batt to frame and running two neg runs to rear bank (5 batts) and it's more than fine.

EDIT: *Also, Singer approved lol

It wouldn't hurt to ground to the frame in the back but I didn't think it was needed so didn't.

*Start with the run(s) to the back, front batt grounded to frame/chassis, check voltage, go from there.

I'll see if I can find a deal on a XS battery if not then I'll just order a distribution block from Kevin. I have about 25' of SHCA 1/0 ofc left over bc I just bought 50' of it so I have the wire to run. Now I just need to find where to ground to the frame in the front.

If it's in the Saturn in your signature use the strut tower bolts for the front chassis ground.
