silverbullet132 Posted June 20, 2015 Report Posted June 20, 2015 Sundown SAZ1000 wired at 2ohm, to two Sundown SA12's. 4ga wire with 80a inline fuse, and a group 78 yellowtop battery. Car is an 07 Cadillac DTS (150a alt). Playing music on my way to work yesterday, smell burning plastic and find this in the trunk. Amp still works so fuses did not blow? When I pulled the box out of the trunk smoke seemed to be coming from the inside of the amp too?
Miguels Posted June 20, 2015 Report Posted June 20, 2015 how was the voltage? are the fuse on there tightly? loose fuses creates resistance which heats up and melts things. my logshttp://www.stevemead...-my-new-set-up/my blow through loghttp://www.stevemead...future-updates/ 96 ss http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/164094-96-impala-ss-build/

Broke_Audio_Addict Posted June 20, 2015 Report Posted June 20, 2015 Is that amp mounted right to the back of the enclosure? That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

JakeMN Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 Probably caused by excessive vibration, there's a section In sundowns warranty that explains it on their website.. Send it in and they'll send it to db-r for free most likely. Basically the same thing happened to me and it's sitting at db-r right now. I only paid like $20 to ship it to Sundown. Bass head in training. Trying to learn everything I can. 2014 Dodge Dart GT Synergy Audio WFO 15.1 V2 (Prototype) Sundown X12
