Yellow1000
So who's got experience and some suggestions on my next one? Like recommendations on port size and internal volume
Joe X
If you fire back it will sound different than forward and different than up. Also two drivers? So 1.45 net per driver?
Yellow1000
Yes two. It's firing back already. Can I post pics on here?
Joe X
Yes you can, check out this thread: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/160056-how-to-post-pictures-on-the-forum-photobucket/
Yellow1000
Thanks. Hard to manage all that on a mobile device so it'll be later for pics of the current setup. But I've heard these are picky woofers on box size.
Yellow1000
So aside from my technical difficulties here in posting pics, what do you guys suggest I try next? My port area is 12x 2.75 inches.
Triticum Agricolam
Well your box size and port area are all pretty reasonable. I think your best bet is to try a lower tuning. Before you build a whole new box you could try externally extending the port on your existing box, just to see if that gives you the output you are looking for. Another thing to think about is you could be getting some cancellation from reflected sound waves. You could try orienting your box differently within your vehicle and see if that makes any difference. Joe X
OP can you post the external dimensions of your box? Also photobucket has an Android app that is supposed to make posting pics easy if you want to try it.
Yellow1000
http://s356.photobucket.com/user/barneyimtc/library/Mobile%20Uploads There's what it looks like. So, based on a frequency sweep ap I have on my iPhone, it drops off pretty hard around 35-36 hz. How long would you guys suggest to start with for an extension externally? Another strange thing if this helps you guys any, on the lower notes the subs barely move at all. Maybe a half inch of excursion. I believe with about 950 rms that's not much. Around your tuning frequency your cone movement is going to drop to almost nothing, no matter how much power you put to it. That's how ported boxes work.
