SnowDrifter
Measure your voltage at the alt. Positive probe to charge stud negative probe to case (be careful). Report back with your charge voltage and the voltage when it dips playing music Quote ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444

CJ18
Belt slip. Also the F150 tends to idle too low to get the alt to put out much power. Put your foot on the gas and see what happens.
SJonus
sorry was gone this weekend.. its a 5.4 ....volts are the same at the alt...its idling at 14 volts, when i give it gas its at 13.8 or so...it goes down in volts..it seems to hold the volts better, but can still hit low low 13's when bass drops..truck even seems to have less power now driving(unless i didnt train pcm rite after the resets).i live out in the bonnies and its hard to get up to speed to train the gears.. everybodyknowme
I'm having the same problem with my 240a in my 02 expedition. Finally got fed up and called mechman today they advised me to charge my 2 batts and see. Just took batts off the charger did a test run and no luck. Still only 14.1 max at idle and goes down to 13.9 when give it gas. This is at cold and hot with or without a load. Also same problem with power. Seems to be less powerful after installing alt. Im clueless so I hope you find the answer. Next and final step is going to do a full rewire this weekend. After that alt may be going back for service. Stock alt ran 14.5 all day until system full tilt.
SJonus
well..im not sure what to think now....my instructions say that i need to change to a smaller belt..the site i bought it from(mechman) says my alt will need a smaller belt cause pulley is 1.75 inches, BUT mine came with a stock pulley on it..i was told(by a guy at mechman) that the E series doesnt need a smaller pulley, but i cant find that anywhere on the net backing that up..i think mayb they sent me the wrong pulley on it..damn iduno...ima go through and quadruple check connections again.. do any of u guys have a mechman that came with a 2 1/4 inch pulley..or stock size??
