Subs Cutting out

When i am listing to music and the bass drops heavy sometimes the subs stop... then i change the song and they come back on.. this is while im driving

Maybe i have a loose wire somewhere?

any ideas

Check ur grounds. What equipment u running? What's ur electrical looking like?

Play the same song 2-3 volume levels below where you know the subs are known to cut off. (if it's known to clip at volume 32, drop down to 29, than up to 30, than 31). See if it still does it. I'm guessing it might not. Check your amp gains. Dropping some low notes taxes the amplifier the most and your amp is letting you know by going into protection for a second. Changing the song gives your amp a mini vacation from the torture.

Well besides possible loose wires, the loudness and the bass boost on ur deck could cause that just by themselves.

I had that problem before on an alpine amp I had in the past. It was rated for 2 OHM and when I hooked it up at a 1 OHM load, it would cut out at about 40% volume.

Looks like you have the Kenwood X500-1 amplifier that is a 2 OHM amp. How did you wire your subs?

many things could cause this:

• it could be electrical when the bass hit it draw so much that the voltage drop below the amps voltage range.
• speaker wire might be touching from the vibration (also check the terminals make sure its intact)
• check your ground connections
• check your ohms readings, make sure its at where you want it to be in the amp recommend ohms range.
• some amps are sensitive to the settings

Watch the amp for protection lights. Sounds like low voltage or thermal protection, NOT a loose connection.

I figured it out it was a bad ground. The bolt it was grounded to was not really a ground So I found bare metal and sanded it down even more then I sodared the thermal to the ground wire and now it freken pounds hard with no interruptions
