Looking for help for Skar audio txl-18's

Please no trash talk if you don't like Skar thanks I'm trying to design a enclosure for 2 18's but on there website it says 4-5ft3 for ported enclosures that just seems small for a 18 when there usually around 6.5 per sub if anybody is running these subs any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys

Not all subs require a big enclosure. Sundown zv3 18s only require 4-5 cubes as well

Im not familiar with said subs, or any of their product line for that matter.

But its like Tonasty said.

RMS or power rating dont mean squat usually when coming to box size.

Things such as the woofers moving mass, suspension stiffness, the size spiders, etc will play a role in what the woofer wants and needs in terms of enclosures.

A lot of times you will find your higher powered woofers needing smaller boxes than what the manufacture lists when you are over power them.

Sometimes the woofers suspension is not up to the standards and requires a smaller box to make them actually handle the power.

Your best bet if you can is model the woofer in a program like bassbox or winisd to see what you can do for a box.
Of coarse real world application would be slightly different than what a computer program tells you, but it would be closer than just building a box to xxx amount of cubes and crossing your fingers.

Now form what I can tell that woofer you have is using a 6spoke basket.

The spider landings on a 6spoke basket are 9.25inches for the top, and 8.5 inches for the 2nd from the top.

It looks like that woofer is using the 8.5inch landing, but with a spider riser to make that 8.5inch landing level with the 9.25inch landing.

It could have spaced spiders and the reason for said spider landing riser, along with spaced spiders.

But since it is using the 8.5landing, and uising a 3.5inch coil, it seems like the spider only has 4 rolls instead of 5 on some woofers with with same diameter spiders. So this could limit xmax and why the woofer requires a smaller box.

I'm only limited to an iPad an can't run programs like that unfortunately an after everything you just said I might just have someone make me a design so they can run it threw a program..I'm very good at carpentry work an building its the details like what you where just explaining that I lack an get lost lol
