Despite no less than torrential rain, flooding, track evacuations, long hours standing outside in the rain and wind, my tent being destroyed and having to head home between days, race cancellations, and a bunch of other things in the way of a good racing day, I had an AMAZING time at the 2015 USGP. Just an awesome experience. Recovered one Toro Rosso after wall impact, and two Porsche MOBIL 1 Supercup GT3 cars. Got to stand on the track during the drivers parade. Got to wave flags for the top drivers in the world. And then got to stand trackside during the victory lap to congratulate Hamilton on his 3rd world championship, while a seemingly very upset (unnamed) driver burned by at 125mph+ about 5 feet from me. Race was awesome. Got some free gear. Got an experience I will remember for a long long time. See you next year Formula 1.

Man, just the worst. Like, basically the video clips that you see of a hurricane happened on Friday. Luckily we were evac'd right before that. We had to stand outside all other times outside of that 2 hour evac, with the exception of 90 minutes in the Porsche paddock while we were waiting on the go/no go for F1 qualifying Saturday afternoon, which turned out to be a no-go.

But Sunday made up for it. I can't ask for a better race day.

man you know i wouldnt have missed it for the world. my dad and i got so excited when we saw that they somehow decided to hold qualifying Sunday morning rather than just take the results from P3. we seriously dont know why they decided that, it all seemed like they wee heading towards jsut going off the standing from P3 and having the race, ive never seen something like that happen. Plus we got 2 days worth of racing in 1 day, for half the price! we left home at like 745AM to make it by 9AM for qualifying. Man the weather was terrible, especially since they didnt even have the whole qualifying session and they cancelled the classic F1 race, so we essentially just had to stand there for 6hours and wait for the race. but once those cars came out you could stop everyone there from smiling ear-to-ear. I honestly thought about how you were marshaling and told my dad about how miserable it must have been to have to stand out there all 3 days in the terrible weather. Either way your still a lucky man! we sat right after turns 4-5-6 and watched the S-turn mainly. Every other time ive gone we stand around turn 11, you can really see the back DRS zone and some really fast corners, but the wind was UNBEARABLE at those locations since the track was below the spectators and created as uphill watching area, which in turn just shot wind right at you terribly. Im talking 20-35MPH winds at those locations vs 3-5MPH winds everywhere else. it sucked. but overall an amazing race, and i watched it on TV first thing when i got home. It was nice to see that even though personally the conditions were crap, to the rest of the world it made an amazing and "perfect" race to watch with all the drama.

Yeah, weather until about noon Sunday was terrible. I'm really glad that the race turned out wonderful, I would have hated to have the terrible taste it would have left in the fans' mouths if the rain had went through and they couldn't run. COTA did the best they could I think, really not much that could be done in those conditions. COTA just wasn't prepared for that amount of rain. Although the parking lots are a lake if even a small amount of rain heads their way, that's one thing I didn't like. I heard they were honoring Saturday's tickets for Sunday, which is cool of them (even though anyone who bought Saturday's tickets would have bought Sunday's). You were in a great spot! The S's were awesome this weekend. Super interesting to watch how fast they can catch them when it gets squirrely when it was wet, and just crazy how fast they can go through there when it's dry. I was at 3, you probably saw us if you watched the Toro Rosso crash at 4 during Q1, we recovered and picked up debris. And also the two Porsche recoveries where they went off at 3. The mounting system on those for the high lift are crazy.

There's an SVRA event in two weeks. Thinking about working that too, should be an awesome spectator event.

I was one of the idiots that stood in the rain for 4 hours Saturday and didn't see anything but school buses and tacomas go around the track... We were in the PSL tent at turn 15 most of the time but were soaked before we got there regardless. At least the tickets were free, only spent $50 on beer

Yeah, Friday and Saturday afternoons were both cancelled. I was one of the people on those buses. We didn't exactly have the best time either. But the race made up for everything IMO. Just a great race. The Toro Rosso cars would have taken it if it would have stayed wet too. And then Rosberg making that mistake, psh. Can't believe it, and neither can he. Would have liked to see Vettel up higher though. Thought he was going to after he closed that gap on lap 54, but then just couldn't eek out the pass.
