bmwking Posted October 1, 2015 Report Posted October 1, 2015 Hello all, glad to finally be a member! I'll just get right to it. I have a 99 528i wagon with 4 type r 12s (2ohm dvc) in a sealed box which i built. The box yields 1.9ft^3 per pair of subs. I'm pushing them with a excelon 811D to one pair and a 812D to the other. Mids and highs are taken care of by a excelon 542. HU is an alpine 149BT. I have 1/0 from the battery in the rear on the right side to a shuriken bt20 on the left side, from there to the rear center and into distribution blocks then onto the amps. The Box (for some reason i can't post the picture here, probably due to low posts or something): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v298/geopimp/20150716_210834.jpg So my dilemma is, there isnt enough bass. I previously had two soundstream t5 12s in a prefab slot ported box pushed by a rf bd1000.1 and i feel like that setup hit harder. So I think i dont have the right amount of power going to the subs. Can you recommend a single amp that will help these subs take my breath away? Budget would be like $300 max. I'd also like a relatively small footprint due to the amps being mounted under the sliding floor that the box is on. I recently found the american bass PH4000MD and like what i've read but I'd like your professional forum opinion. TIA everyone!
Broke_Audio_Addict Posted October 1, 2015 Report Posted October 1, 2015 Welcome to the forum. Is your budget set in stone? $300 is a pretty slim budget to work with. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

Hey i'm in metro detroit too!

bmwking Posted October 1, 2015 Author Report Posted October 1, 2015 Is that amp one ohm stable? Buy two more if so it is 1ohm stable. why would i need 3? wouldnt 3000wrms (or somewhere near) be more than enough to slam 4 type r's wired together at 1ohm?
412Mark Posted October 1, 2015 Report Posted October 1, 2015 How do you have those amps hooked up to those subs. Sounds like you could just have one of those amps hooked up to all four wired at 1 ohm pushing 1000 watts. But I did see they are rated at 500 rms each. You could go with a Soundqubed 2200. They are over your price range some but Black Friday isn't that far away and they seem to put good deals out there on that amp. I paid barely over $300 for mine

Sometimes the easiest way to more power is to just use more of what you have. Broke_Audio_Addict Posted October 1, 2015 Report Posted October 1, 2015 I would honestly do some hunting around and find a nice quality used amp. You could snag a decent 2k - 2.5k with $350 - $400 That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
