ctq
hello I have a old alpine flex 4 MPR-F306 run just door speakers MB Quart DK1-169 MB Quart DC1-216 component set The amp is not bridge just one speaker to one channel and the amp is over heating. Not sure why all speakers are 4ohm specs said it can run 4 ohm load. Was think that the component set is changing the ohms since its 2 speaker to channel when wired. does the tweeter and woofer in a component change the ohm like dual vc subs? Amp is mounted under passenger seat it that helps.
Clownrock95
The amp will see 4 ohm from the component set
BigManAC
You can always check the impedance at the amp if you're not sure. Broke_Audio_Addict
Are you running the passive crossover with the component set? That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals. ctq
Running the factory crossover that came with the component set. I don't see any reason why it would over heat and on top of it over heating its doing it fast as if I had the amp bridge at 2ohm load. so one song its overheating . reedal
Is it overheating to the point it turns off? Or just getting hot? Broke_Audio_Addict
How high is the gain turned up and where is the amp located? Pictures usually help us determine issues. Broke_Audio_Addict
The gain being that high is your problem. ctq
IDK the amp says it can take a 4 ohm load it shouldn't over heat that fast in a open air environment like under a seat not like its smashed there. I ran my MB Quart raa100.1 @ 1 ohm maxed out on a American bass xfl 1222 sub and it never over heated needless to say after running the amp @1ohm for 9 yrs it fried on me last week but 1ohm is hard on amps and 9 yrs is a long time for a amp. Was a great amp by the way it will be missed!
