Hillage
Hey guys. Just installed Fosgate P1675-S and a Fosgate P150x2. Amp is mounted on wood, ground run to bare metal, power run through car on opposite side of RCAs and speaker wire. Head unit is grounded as well. I have static into the speakers, gets louder as I turn up the volume, engine running/engine off. Music sounds terrible, very static-y when the music gets going.Wired up with Sky High 4 OFC amp kit and OFC speaker wire.Any ideas? I've done almost all I can think of short of grounding the RCA plugs... Edit: Would also like to add: New speakers are wired RCA to amp, then speaker wire back. Rear speakers (haven't removed yet) are wired straight to wiring harness on headunit, and they DO NOT have any static...
Hillage
Alright, update. Went through and tested: When RCAs are disconnected from amp, no static. RCA is run near a signal wire and speaker wires, but no other type of power. I can try running a different RCA over the seats tomorrow and see if that helps, it will be isolated from all other wires. Ground from HU and amp are both solid grounds as well. Any input from the more experienced?
SIDE SHOW
yeah, try run your rca's over the seat away from all the wires then test it, does the whine change with the accelerator with the car on?
Hillage
yeah, try run your rca's over the seat away from all the wires then test it, does the whine change with the accelerator with the car on? Nope. Steady static, only gets louder with volume. Music sounds static'y/crackly too, like I'm listening to the radio with a bad signal.
SIDE SHOW
Try plug an ipod or phone straight into the amp and test if it still has the noise
Clownrock95
Try plug an ipod or phone straight into the amp and test if it still has the noise this Also I could be wrong but if the rca's are pinched/have a internal short between the channels I think it can give static

poorfish88
Make a new ground for the headunit..... I'm thinking either the factory ground is bad, or the one yyou made is bad.
Bump4life
my guess is that you have gain on amp set too high and pre amp voltage out of head unit is too low. To reduce noise you want the highest clean pre amp (RCA) voltage possible and then set amp gain accordingly. Next issue could be grounds. generally if there is noise, make sure all audio electronics are grounded to same point. Or get a ground loop isolator for rca. or if you have pioneer head unit you may have pico fuse issue. to fix, ground rca to radio frame. Haven't messed with the headunit settings besides turning off factory "loud" settings etc, should be pretty clean, unless I'm missing something. Grounds for sub amp and speakers amp are in different spots, they won't reach to the same spot. Should I re-arrange and make them ground at the same spot?
