SnowDrifter Posted October 20, 2015 Report Posted October 20, 2015 FWIW I don't even pay attention to sub vs amp ratings anymore. Don't push it past mechanical limits and if it smells turn it down ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
hdorre Posted October 20, 2015 Report Posted October 20, 2015 run a few of YOUR songs with Audacity to find what overlap to tune with... and from there, learn how to actually use your bass knob. Don't just crank it up all the way when you wanna bump. firebirdude Posted October 20, 2015 Report Posted October 20, 2015 A multimeter set to AC. Or just use the DD1 as directed, but back the gain off a solid chunk when the distortion light pops on. Close enough. 16 billion other factors are going to come into play when calculating the exact point when your woofer will fail. That said, it's a solid sub and should take a beating anyway. Don't stew about it too much.
Wehan Posted October 24, 2015 Report Posted October 24, 2015 Don't have the sub connected when you set the gain with the dd1. Use the DD1 as the instructions say and after it's all done use A: the dedicated sub level control on your head unit OR B: if your head unit doesn't have a sub level adjustment grab a PAC LC-1 to dial it in without messing with your now perfectly set amp gain. after this its like the others said, use your ears and nose, if its making other noises than the source turn it down...if you can smell it turn it down. I recommend track 1 in this situation.
