db_speakerbox
2x4 is the cheap and easy for bracing. What us your port area? If your goal is to play low I would try to increase your volume some. My sp4 18s played below 25hz better closer to 8 cubes each. Also had them in 6 cubes each and peak score was a little louder but the lows suffered. Also don't think it is necessary to tune at 24hz. May bring that up a few and would help gain some volume as well.
Yannick Pons
Hiya, port is 12*93cm -> 4.72*36.6 inches, looks like about 173 sqin area. FI factory, BladeIce (europe seller for FI) and some other guys told me to do 13cuft net, I'll try this and rebuild if needed, and if it's tuned to low I'll just reduce the port length What do you mean by 2x4 ? daimer
2x4 are the dimensions in inches for wood lumber. And also, good luck with the build! Will be a good one for sure. Yay thanks, I was thinking about using that kind of wood lumber I'll also need to buy some threated rods to reinforce the port in my opinion, or maybe I'll also use wood what do you think about it ? what would be the best way to reinforce the port without too much disturbing the acoustic wave ? FourRings
2x4's and wood is cheap but I personally think that it takes up too much space for the amount of strength it gives you in return.I prefer to use iron pipe and flanges like these here http://www.homedepot.com/p/Mueller-Global-1-2-in-Galvanized-Malleable-Iron-Floor-Flange-511-603HN/100188066 for most of my internal bracing. Its smaller and because it is round I feel it disrupts flow inside the enclosure less.I will usually fill them with scrap lead or cement to reduce vibrations too.Another option is using hardwood dowels, again I prefer round and the harder woods like oak are stronger than pine so you can get away with a little smaller rod than a 2x4 and my local store actually sells them with a hole in the center that you can put a threaded rod through to tighten them up. I'm not saying that 2x4's and the like are wrong or bad but there's other options and for me I like to use as little airspace for bracing as possible. Also being able to tighten them in place and add tension really can help reduce vibrations more so than a brace that isnt under tension Good luck with the build,I've always been a fan of MK3's
Yannick Pons
Thanks for Info @FourRings, I'll try to find the flanges for internal bracing, for external I'll use the 2x4, will be easier in my opinion ^^ I really appreciate all the people already linking that project, thank you so much I promise to do the best we can ! db_speakerbox
Yes pipe bracing is what I use. However, it is not cheap to buy all the flanges, pipe and then thread all the ends. 13 cubes will work ok, just not as well as a larger enclosure would for the play range you want. Port area is a little small, but may be ok.
