Type Rs died suggestions for a change.

I've had Type R's and Type S's and I actually preferred the sounds of the Type S's but the coils can't take the heat when compared to other subs

Heat is definitely a big factor for purchase. Here in Vegas with 120deg summer temps the foam surround idea scares me honestly.

I live in Texas and have zero problems with heat and foam surrounds as well as thousand other bassheads in other southern states whose foam surround subwoofers that are subjected to heat.

Ported is good for louder/boomy bass. Tuning and exact size determine the drivers performance at certain frequencies.
