mxman38 Posted November 3, 2015 Report Posted November 3, 2015 Hey guys, I have been out of audio for a few years and wanted to do a daily build on stock electrical. I just purchased a fully loaded Fi BL 15" with a twisted sounds 1.3k and built an enclosure 30x24x16. I know it's not a huge high power set up, but i have a northstar battery and a ton of ofc power/grounds. I plan on sealing the trunk and doing it correctly. I purchased two 6" flared aero ports from precision ports, however, I am unsure if i use both at full length (18" i believe) is is too much port area? If my calculations are correct im at 5.5 cubes gross, and with both ports full length im around 4.5. cubes at 35 hz... Can someone shed some more light that knows it better than me? Thanks
brent379 Posted November 3, 2015 Report Posted November 3, 2015 honestly id be worried about it not being enough. that woofer can displace a good amount of air, but since you on lower power and the ports are flared, you should be fine.

Dang... I'm already running out of room with the two- I may have to cut the flare a tad to fit them... unless i just go to home depot and do 2 8" Sonotubes w/no flare. IDK why but i thought spending the extra on aeros would make it louder than slot.

With both of them 18" long you are probably going to be tuned to around 40 Hz. brent379 Posted November 3, 2015 Report Posted November 3, 2015 I came up with a tuning of 37. and aeroports will not automatically make an enclosure louder. they generally are just more efficient then a slot port, but depending on how the enclosure is designed, port area is port area.

I'm no pro, so wait for JoeX ! Or use the12volts.com calculator. black BMW X1 2.0 l 192 hp OEM head unit, Amplifiers : Audison AP 8.9 with integrated DSP and Ampere Audio 1200. Focal ES 100 K in front doors, and Dayton RS 180 for midbass under the front seats. 2 SSA DEMONS 10" subs, in a sealed box. SecondSkin Damplifier on front doors, and Luxury Liner Pro for the cargo area.

I had no idea it would be a 9" flare on a 6" port so i am uncertain how i will squeeze them on the front baffle with the woofer without trimming them or moving them to the side of the box. I really wanted 32 hz but i guess if i dont like it i can rebuild the enclosure.
