rfbasshead Posted November 4, 2015 Report Posted November 4, 2015 so i have a t1500bdcp, t400.4, all sky high 0awg, a duracell agm up front and a xs d2700 in the back all running off a singer 270. it does more than 250 at 2k rpm and over 300 at 3k rpm. So when i'm driving down the highway doing 70/75 so somewhere around 2k rpm, and i listing to the radio at full tilt my voltage will go as low as 12 volts. is this normal? am i the only one getting that kind of voltage drop?
CleanSierra Posted November 4, 2015 Report Posted November 4, 2015 Which Singer 270A alternator do you have? A conventional or a hairpin? What vehicle? Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
brent379 Posted November 4, 2015 Report Posted November 4, 2015 had a similar problem. took me months to figure out. my problem was belt slip. VERY bad belt slip. could also be a ground issue. do you have the big 3 done?
Rich Schenk Posted November 4, 2015 Report Posted November 4, 2015 Have u done the big 4 in 1/0. What our ur grounds like. Could also be belt slip. I think mine is starting Do they same because of belt slip. On 3/28/2014 at 4:22 PM, KyLar96 said: Its all about the music anyway..... rfbasshead Posted November 5, 2015 Author Report Posted November 5, 2015 i have the big three, not sure what the 4th is. if you've had issues with the belt slip that's probably what it is. I used the old belt which was pretty shot out and i got the hairpin. ill try that this weekend and see how that helps. keep an eye out for my result
everybodyknowme Posted November 5, 2015 Report Posted November 5, 2015 It's probably belt slip. Same thing with me, the faster I went the volts dropped. I also read on here that some folks go through a few belts a year. Had to replace mine within a few months after install.
Lakeshow94 Posted November 5, 2015 Report Posted November 5, 2015 I don't know if it applied to all singer alts but on mine the pulley was smaller. Because of that I had to use a smaller belt. Never had an issue though. I think singer recomended a 1/2"-3/4" shorter belt. 1999 Lexus GS 300 Pioneer DEH-80PRS Singer 240 Amp (Will be installed later) Northstar Group 31 & 24 Sundown SCV-4000 Rockford T400-4 2 12" CT Sound Meso CT Sounds 6.5 Meso Components CT Sounds Tropo 6.5
CleanSierra Posted November 5, 2015 Report Posted November 5, 2015 What does your belt WRAP look like too? As in, how much belt is wrapped around the alternator pulley? Some cars have a very poor, inadequate wrap for a high output alternator to work properly. 50-60% of the pulley would be considered GOOD wrap. You have pics? Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
