JeepAndBassXJ
Haven't been able to do much on the build lately. I have wired up a few door speakers just to get me by for now and temporarily mounted my 4 channel. Cleaned up a few things and also added my team decals on the windshield. My very temporary amp install lol Got the upgraded dust caps for the soundqubed 18's. Ill be running these until I get the DC's. They already did 152.3db in my no wall setup on just my 3.5k. JeepAndBassXJ
I like it so far, what are you going to tune it for? music or spl or a little of both? Going for a little of both, going to play around with a removable port and see what I can do with it. Daily tuning will be around 31hz. JeepAndBassXJ
Got lots done in the last week or so. All the rear panels are mocked up and ready for the rest of the carpet. Also started installing the led lights. As far as the wall itself goes, I have finished the front baffle and setup my port so that I can do removable ports and burp port tuneing. First thing I did was insert the first layer into the wall and used it to position the speakers and port. The next 3 layers all were put in front of the first and the frame. First few layers in. Little test fit. And 4th with no holes! JeepAndBassXJ
Now the 4th layer with holes! Next thing to do was to plot out the bracing, using (2) 3/4" rods to bolt the front to the rear, in the rear you will not see the nuts or rod. The rest of the bracing I plan to do will consist of angle iron in the corners of the the baffle and also the port if I tune the burp port lower will stack right behind the right side of the port as you see above. JeepAndBassXJ
Next is to start testing a few things, currently the box is "gutted" no 45's in any corner, no real port, no round overs really. I will burp the subs as is to see what sort of score I get and at what frequency. I dont expect it to do all that well yet like this. Also keeping in mind I only have a single 3.5K amp right now. My ultimate goal would be to get near 154db on the single amp and .25 ohms and above 150-51db at 1 ohm. I think what will happen is that I will have to add a few 45's in the rear corners and lower the port tuning, it is currently at 50hz or so and is a huge port to begin with. It will accommodate a low tune daily port that slides in and tunes at 31-32hz and will not change. It won't have to do awesome on the meter but I would hope it still keeps in the 52s rage with that port. But at this point its all a guessing game, I wont know until today or tomorrow where I begin so wish me luck! Little bit of Sky High 8 gauge!
