SCATHED
Yeah thinking about building a new box, how much port area should I have for a single 12 on about 2000 watts?
SCATHED
Wait a minute, how is that not enough port area for an SA12??
daimer
It's definitely not enough. They are not even flared, and flaring helps a lot (to some extent). I've tried my 12 in a box with two 4" non-flared ports (which is more port area than your setup) and on around 500 watts it was chuffing pretty bad.In my opinion, build another box for the SA (or whatever sub you go with) with proper port area, because if you put bigger ports in this one, you'll lose volume. Triticum Agricolam
Wait a minute, how is that not enough port area for an SA12?? Three 3" ports is only 21 sq in of port area. For the Sundown E12 they recommend 28 sq in and it's only a 500 watt sub. For the Sa-12 you are going to want at least 30 sq in and it depends on how much power you are going to be running and the size of the box. On 2,000 watts you are looking at more like 40 sq in.
