Alex Musak Posted November 23, 2015 Report Posted November 23, 2015 Curious if anyone has tried some of the PPI 900.4 clones out and which one sounded best. I've tried the Soundstream TN4.900 and thought it had a nice warm sound to it with plenty of power behind it. I've also read the Hertz HDP4 uses the same board, and I've also tried that amp and it sounded nothing like the TN4.900. It was easily MUCH louder, but not as warm sounding. The TN4.900 while not as loud "hit harder" if that makes sense. I liked the sound of the TN4 more, and wished it was a loud as the HDP4. Price was vastly different though TN4 = 177.00 HDP4 = 600.00 So with the amps like the NVX, Polk Audio, etc. that are clones or using the same board. Which one is best? note: this is for a motorcycle so I need a class D amp.
ChevyBoy95 Posted November 23, 2015 Report Posted November 23, 2015 Why not the PPI 900.4? Have you looked at the Rockford PBR300x4? http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_34758_Rockford-Fosgate-Punch-PBR300X4.html Dimensions : 1.53" x 4.25" x 6.75" Best Score to Date : 160.5 dB Outlaw (47Hz)[4 XM 15's & 2 Taramps Bass 12k's] BL : http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/147800-chevyboy95s-4-15s-7krms-wall-1533-db-on-half-power/YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/hitemwiththeflex/
SkarredSierra Posted November 23, 2015 Report Posted November 23, 2015 Kenwood also has a mini 4 channel that puts out good numbers. Big d posted a dyno test of one on the forum.
boom50cal Posted November 23, 2015 Report Posted November 23, 2015 Taramps has a pretty sweet micro4 channel. TS-400x4. I use one in my oickup running a set of sundown components active. Very pleased with its sound and performance. On 1/4/2013 at 9:31 PM, HatersGonnaHate said: Wow. 184 posts and I think you're a fucking asshole.
Alex Musak Posted November 23, 2015 Author Report Posted November 23, 2015 Size is not an issue as this amp goes in the bags (i have a T400X4AD in the fairing). Yeah I may just try the PPI version as it seems to be the most popular. The Hertz is a beast and really looking for something that can compete with it volume wise. Had considered a JL 600/4, but man it’s pricey. Tried an Arc xDI 600.4 and didn’t like it over the Hertz. Still searching for the combination of Hertz volume and TN4.900 warmth/rich sound. Thanks fellas.
