BigHOUSTON Posted January 9, 2016 Report Posted January 9, 2016 before i installed my xs d3400 , stock batt was charging at 14.8v according to my fluke. Once i put the xs power in it was charging at 14.97v. Someone on a Fb page was saying im charging it too high. But cant do much about it since its a stock alt. am i good? Quote
Wasteland_Audio Posted January 9, 2016 Report Posted January 9, 2016 My mechman alt charges at just a hair under 15 volts and doesn't hurt anything. You'll see a voltage gain going from an old lead acid to a new agm battery anyway. .2 volts isn't going to bother anything. Quote

Left the meter at work so do know if its changed or not. the charging voltage will change depending on the temp of the alt. a cold alt will charge at a higher voltage than a warm alt. so if in your picture the truck hadnt been running and had enough time to cool down, then it is a cold alt. after running for a few minutes the charging voltage should drop a little bit. the Answer Posted January 9, 2016 Report Posted January 9, 2016 My singer 320a has a oem regulator and it chargers at 15.2 normally when the alt is warmed up or at night, 15.0 hot. highest I have seen was 15.7 cold. I'm running d3400 up front and 3 d3100 in rear Quote
