MyNameIsNoob Posted January 13, 2016 Report Posted January 13, 2016 Back in the mid 90's i had 3 JL10w6's on a Soundstream Reference 500 that sounded amazing... So im in the midst of planning some upgrades for my 4 channel amp n was lookin at the new Soundstream product line. They seem awful affordable for what they are. Saw a 3000 RMS Tarantula on Sonic for $300... So now im jus thinkin, are they still makin a good product w a clean signal or should i look the other way?
Azagtoth502 Posted January 13, 2016 Report Posted January 13, 2016 3k rms @.5 ohm for $300 is HIGHLY doubtful. While they may not be crap, they are not at all what they used to be. I'd steer clear. pa-pa-platypus sorry not everybody has a companies nuts so far down their throat they catch every drop ball sweat when it falls
Lakeshow94 Posted January 13, 2016 Report Posted January 13, 2016 If you accept that they are a cheaper product and not top of the line they are okay. We sell them at the store I work at and I get very few returns. I haven't dealt with the tarantula electro series very much but we deal with the picasso nano line frequently. Id say they are a little overrated but nothing like your walmart specials (dual, boss etc). The tn1.1200d was done on an amp dyno by sonic I believe. Actually put out over 1200 @ 1 ohm certified. 1999 Lexus GS 300 Pioneer DEH-80PRS Singer 240 Amp (Will be installed later) Northstar Group 31 & 24 Sundown SCV-4000 Rockford T400-4 2 12" CT Sound Meso CT Sounds 6.5 Meso Components CT Sounds Tropo 6.5
MyNameIsNoob Posted January 13, 2016 Author Report Posted January 13, 2016 Yea i may not be the most knowledgeable guy on this, but somethin gta be compromised to bring the price down. I dont need/ want (i.e. afford) an elite level amp, but i jus want a nice clean signal to run my components. Ive had a few reccomend the Harmony DSP for what im needing also, n even that is a bit cheper than the others w the same board... idk, quality jus seems a bit suspect to me?
Chris Braun Posted January 16, 2016 Report Posted January 16, 2016 I've heard problems, noise, popping, interference and just plain crapping out. Also the buy n sell where I am usually has people selling soundstream gear, probably for a reason. I think since they were bought out quality has taken a dip and hasn't risen since. I find most of these companies that buy out smaller ones have a generic business plan of use low quality china made products = profit, obviously.
hunter1206 Posted January 16, 2016 Report Posted January 16, 2016 i have and run alot of soundstream some what of a nuthugger lol but no company is what they use to be IMO that said i love soundstream i have no problems with them what so ever and for the price its not bad it dont matter what brand any one runs there are going to be ppl who love and hate just like ppl say oh china means crap i dont think so but thats my IMO once again and it works for me thats all that matters i mean sundown is made in china even says it on the box when you get one of there subs and i also like sundown great stuff to each there own ppl like what they gonna like
everybodyknowme Posted January 16, 2016 Report Posted January 16, 2016 Most of the big name amps from the 90's have lost a little credit in today's world due to cost saving but I think they still work great. Only one that is still at the top from back in the day is RF.
BoomZoom808 Posted January 16, 2016 Report Posted January 16, 2016 I don't know about the electro series but the TA1.2000D works pretty good for me this is on a stock alt 1/0 cca and 2 tiny agm batts Amazon has a used one for sale for $164 2010 Mazda 3s 2.5L Pioneer DEH-X9600BHS Knu OFC 1/0 SS Platinum AGM / XS Power XP750 Alpine PDX F-4 / Morel Maximo 5 + Coax 5 IA 10.1 / SSA XCON 12
