Subs moving in and out fast and popping at higher volumes

I kinda feel dumb now. At least I learned something. Always learning… and forgetting...

They are both a "load" so to speak, but DC resistance is a static load (or resistive load). AC Impedance exists only in AC circuits and changes with frequency and only exists with power applied (or inductive load).

They are COMPLETELY different entities. There is no conversion factor or formula to translate from DC resistance to AC impedance.

^^ Yes, please.

Could be unloading below tuning of the box. Especially if there is an Eq or bass boost feature turned up on the bottom end. Used to see this a lot with Epicenters on prefab boxes.

Static drops are my bag.

I think the op is getting that dreaded thing where the sub looks like its breathing when the volume is down low.... saw it once... amp went bad

OP said that his only does it at high volume, but I am thinking the same thing since it happened to me a few years back. Amp might be on its way out but not sure.
