BigHOUSTON Posted January 29, 2016 Report Posted January 29, 2016 Got a d3400 and a stock alt. Stock alt is 150amps. Heavily pcm regulated. Will be running a 2k amp and a little 50.4 four channel only running 2 channels. Do i have enough juice?
ShadeTreeMechanic Posted January 29, 2016 Report Posted January 29, 2016 Is the d3400 the primary battery or the second battery? Which 2K amp on what speakers? 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)

ShadeTreeMechanic Posted January 29, 2016 Report Posted January 29, 2016 I would say that a bigger alt would be my first choice, followed by a second battery. The 2K amp will want at least 200A to be happy. Maybe more depending on how the load is configured. Also at least 1/0 cable to the back. 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)

You will have some voltage drop but shouldnt have any light dimming or anything of that nature. Dedicate about 40a to accessories, leaving 110a charging. 110a x 12v = 1320w (rule of thumb) leaving probably 1000w for the D3400 to deal with, which it can. Plus, music is dynamic so he will rarely be constantly pulling 200+a of current. ShadeTreeMechanic Posted January 29, 2016 Report Posted January 29, 2016 Sure, try what you have and see if your lights dim. 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)

Since vehicle is a lease, no sense in purchasing vehicle specific items.
MotorCityFats13 Posted January 30, 2016 Report Posted January 30, 2016 quality brands will recoup the price in the secondary market when you decide to sell .... there is always a person looking to upgrade.... but I would also upgrade the alt last only if all else fails.... you could always overdrive the stock alt with a smaller pully although this requires experimentation and if the bearings dont take too much beating they will never know when you turn it back in! lol.... this would boost the 150amp down lower in the rpm range when at idle where light dimming is more noticed... I did this on a stock 3G 98 explorer 135amp and it made a pretty big difference at night at red lights.... although it was eating $15 junkyard alts on a yearly basis...lol.... went through 3 in just under 2 years because you never know how old one of those really are
