Curious to see what this other shop says. Was it recommended by the first shop, or someone you found that's unrelated?

Fishy that a shop that has the $$ to put into an alignment rack but not enough left over for the basic tools needed to do the job.

So this vehicle is still all OEM from what you've stated...struts don't really cause alignment problems. They may be worn and leaking or bouncy, but unless they are physically bent (I've never seen on a stock height vehicle unless it's been jumped and bottomed out) or rusted so badly the lower mount let loose partially from it's welds, they shouldn't inhibit a proper alignment. Also, the "bolt kit" wasn't necessary when the vehicle was new, the only reason it would be necessary now is if ball joints, bushings, or upper strut mounts are shot and sagging out of spec.

I'd recommend maybe taking it to an unrelated shop, depending on what this next one says.

Yes, the shop I dropped my ride off to this morning was recommended by the first shop and everything mechanical is still OEM.

Looks like 450-650 with out looking everything up. Here is a site that will get you in the ballpark. http://repairpal.com/estimator

$646 is what the shop just quoted me. Except he found a different problem. He said my ball joints were horrible and the cam bolts needed to be replaced and then he'd be able to align it. He also said that's why my tires wore so quick.

Wait a minute the first shop recommended another shop ? Am I missing something here ? How much did the first shop quote you ?

The first shop doesn't do those kinds of repairs and refused to quote me anything. There's just an oil, tire, and general maintenance shop. That's why he recommended this other shop.

That makes a lot more sense.

Static drops are my bag.

Yep that makes more sense, you had a shop that does not do front end work check it out to begin with. OK what does the 646 include ?

Well, I actually just went for a tire rotation and for a possible patch in my front driver's side tire. That turned into needing new tires and an alignment and so on. Timing, man....Timing is great.

$646 includes the ball joint replacement, the cam bolt replacement, and alignment from what I understood. There may be more.

If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, tell them you'll buy the parts from somewhere else and just charge for labor....

Lots of shops won't do that, and the ones that will won't give you a warranty.

That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
