Knocker
Looking at hydraulic hex crimpers for 2/0 cable and there are many out there ranging from 5 to 16 tons of force. I automatically wanted to order the 16 ton model but the dies look like crap. However there's a Temco crimper that seems to have better dies but the crimping force is only 5 tons. Is 5 US tons enough force to produce a solid cold weld?
Htown B.O.B.
that should be enough, you shouldn't need that much force for 2/0 and smaller. that much force would be for something in the 250 kcmil range and bigger
Karkov
Common here is 10-16 ton. They all work just fine. I had a 16 tons and never an issues with dies or the crimper itself, used for a few years and sold. 2007 Chevy Tahoe (SOLD) 12 ~ FI Audio X series 10" w/BP option 2 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @0.67 3 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @1.0 2 ~ PPI 3 way sets (not installed yet) 1 ~ RF T400-4, 1 ~ RF T600-2, 1 ~ RF T600-4 4 ~ CT Sounds 5.25" Strato comps (rear fill only) 1 ~ XS Power D4800 1 ~ XS Power D3400 8 ~ XS Power XP3000 160 stock alt, Mechman 370 Elite, 185 DC Power 320+ Sq. That's insane. I didn't realize that happens. Thanks for posting that man. Thats the whole idea of crimping. Hydraulic or nothing. Some people use a vice, or a crimper with a damn 6 foot handle for lots of leverage, but those will makeit grab good, it doesnt create as good of an electrical connection. There is a link in my sig that goes a little more in depth but isnt working for some reason. Not sure why.
