Edit: I've heard some builds where I was like "damn those are shallows making all that noise?" in extra cab trucks.

I cant see your claim that a shallow sub is not a real sub.... yes I understand there is only so much you can do when designing a shallow sub but alot of design work went into making the motor and coil run shallow and this does not always mean less excursion.... many shallow subs have more throw than conventional designed subs.... might be different if you were running some off the shelf kicker, fosgate, kenwood or pioneer shallows
